The three murals in Palmira, Leymebamba, and Dos de Mayo were created in 2024 by local artist Jerson Gormas Montoya. Gerson was born in Chachapoyas and has lived there all his life. He left another career to pursue his love of painting, and has developed his own style and vision outside of professional artistic training.

The three murals he created for the Ethnobotanical Gardens celebrate the native plants and living customs of the area, while acknowledging its long history from ancient times.
